Mahmood Sheikh, a U of I graduate and former Vandal Scholarship Fund director, has been named the College of Western Idaho’s first athletic director, where he’ll design an endowment-backed sports program and expand opportunities for students across the Treasure Valley.

• Potlatch woman arrested on drug trafficking charges (dnews.com) — Moscow Fire Department paramedics assisted Potlatch responders after a man died from an apparent overdose at a Potlatch apartment, prompting a deeper investigation. A 48-year-old Potlatch woman now faces fentanyl trafficking charges after police reported finding drug paraphernalia and suspected narcotics in her home and storage unit.
