1. I-84 to close in both directions for work on SH-16 extension (idahopress.com) — Drivers in Nampa need to plan around a full overnight closure of I-84 between the Garrity and Ten Mile interchanges from 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, for SH-16 flyover bridge work. Traffic will be detoured along Franklin Road, and additional nighttime lane restrictions are expected through the fall as the SH-16 extension progresses toward a 2027 opening.
   

2. What Valley Regional Transit's budget cuts mean for its Nampa riders (idahopress.com) — Nampa transit riders are already feeling the impact of Valley Regional Transit service cuts that followed a roughly 67% reduction in city funding for 2027. Route 40 no longer serves Nampa, on-demand rides are mostly gone, and officials estimate about 21,000 annual trips—affecting work, medical visits and shopping—could disappear while city leaders largely remain silent publicly.
   

3. Nampa to close stretch of Powerline Road for crosswalk upgrades starting Oct. 26 (kivitv.com) — Drivers in Nampa should prepare for Powerline Road to close just south of Sherman Avenue from Oct. 26 through about Nov. 6 while the city upgrades the crosswalk. Crews will add flashing beacons, better ramps and new signs, with nearby residents still able to access their neighborhoods and detours routed along Sherman, Chicago and Amity.
   

4. Central Elementary's return after winter break is no longer guaranteed. Flood damage repairs face uncertain timeline (ktvb.com) — Families in Nampa’s Central Elementary community are learning that a return to their flooded home campus after winter break is no longer certain, as repairs face insurance and supply delays. About 260 students remain at the former Centennial Elementary, where staff, volunteers and local groups quickly rebuilt classrooms but now must prepare for a potentially longer stay.
