City of Pocatello Releases Updated Portneuf Valley Tree Guide (pocatellochubbuckobserver.com) — Pocatello residents can now use an updated Portneuf Valley Tree Guide to choose trees and shrubs that thrive locally and see where they’re growing around town. Printed copies are at City Hall and nurseries, and an online version supports a photo-submission contest through July 31, with chances to win a swag bag while helping map local tree locations.

2. ISU launches 3-year bachelor's degree programs (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho State University in Pocatello is rolling out three-year bachelor’s degrees that let students stack a technical associate degree into an accelerated bachelor’s in just 90 credits. New programs in law enforcement leadership, applied business and sales, and intelligent and trustworthy digital systems are designed with local industry to get Pocatello-area students into good jobs faster.

3. Insurance Agent Sentenced for Forging Consumer Signatures (idaho.gov) — A Pocatello resident and former insurance agent has been sentenced for forging customers’ signatures to open unauthorized policies and collect commissions. He received supervised probation, short jail time, community service, and restitution, while state regulators urge Idahoans to review their insurance documents and report anything suspicious.

4. 21-year-old killed in crash on I-80 several miles west of Wendover, juvenile in critical condition (abc4.com) — A 21-year-old man from Pocatello was killed in a rollover crash on I-80 near West Wendover, Nevada, and one of two juveniles in the vehicle remains in critical condition. Nevada Highway Patrol investigators say speeding and possible impairment may have contributed, and they’re asking anyone who witnessed the Saturday night crash to contact their Elko office.

5. ‘Your circumstances do not define your ceiling': LC State pr... (lmtribune.com) — Pocatello’s women’s and men’s prisons are now part of a fast-growing Lewis-Clark State College program bringing college degrees behind bars, with local inmates among this year’s graduates. The story follows a recent Idaho State Correctional Center ceremony and explains how new federal support and Pell Grants are expanding higher-education access across multiple Idaho prisons, including Pocatello.
