Bus Carrying Marines To Nashville For Marine Week Catches Fire On Interstate 24

MONTEAGLE, TN — A charter bus carrying 40 Marines to Nashville for this week's Marine Week event caught fire on Interstate 24 in Grundy County.

It is not yet clear why the bus, which was not involved in an accident, caught fire. No one was injured and the Marines are now on their way to the Music City after a Grundy County Schools sent a bus to pick them up.

The interstate was briefly shut down but is now re-opened, though delays will likely persist.

Marine Week begins September 7.
