Davidson County Unemployment Rate Up to 3.6 Percent in December

The unemployment rate rose in all 95 counties in Tennessee, with Davidson County's up 0.1 percent.

NASHVILLE, TN — Davidson County's unemployment rate was up 0.1 percent in December to 3.6 percent, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development. The unemployment rate rose in all of Tennessee's 95 counties last month.

That's better than every other county in the state, save Williamson County, where the rate is 3.5 percent. Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, eight were in Middle Tennessee.

Davidson County is tops among the state's four largest metros, besting Knoxville's Knox County (4.1 percent), Chattanooga's Hamilton County (4.8 percent) and Memphis' Shelby County (5.5 percent).

In the last year, Davidson County unemployment has dropped 0.4 percent.

The state rate, reported last week, is 4.9 percent, up 0.1 from November's adjusted figure.
