Sex Offender Arrested After Two Visits to Nashville Elementary School

A sex offender with a lengthy rap sheet came inside Park Avenue Elementary twice in one week.

NASHVILLE, TN — A registered sex offender is behind bars after entering a Nashville elementary school twice in five days.

Leonard Kemp, 42, is charged with two violations of the sex offender registry law after twice dropping a student, who is not his child, at Park Avenue Elementary School in Sylvan Heights. Both times he was told by an assistant principal that he was not permitted to be on school property due to his sex offender status. He was arrested Wednesday by Metro Police and is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Kemp has been charged and convicted of dozens of crimes, including theft and robbery, and has several previous convictions for sex offender registration violations. He was convicted of sexual battery in 1986, according to state records.
