Still Angry About Obama, Woman Spits, Slurs MTA Officer

The 63-year-old woman was arrested for assault after spitting at a Nashville transit officer.

NASHVILLE, TN — Still reeling after the election of President Barack Obama, a woman reacted by spitting and hurling racial slurs at a Nashville transit officer, police say.

A Metropolitan Transit Authority officer ordered Angela Fiume, 63, off the property at Riverfront Station on First Avenue. Fiume then spat at the officer and began calling the officer, who is African-American, a number of racial slurs and said she "refused to let a black man tell her what to do." Fiume said she was upset Obama was elected president.

Obama, then the junior senator from Illinois, was first elected president in 2008. He was re-elected in 2012. Fiume was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016.
