Cedar Park To Lower Water Rate
The city will drop stage three drought restrictions for the first time since August 2013.

For the first time in two years, the Cedar Park City Council is lowering water rates.
In a November 19 meeting, the City Council directed City Manager Brenda Eivens to shift from stage three drought restrictions to stage two by December 1, according to a news release. Stage three drought restrictions have been in place since August of 2013.
For citizens of Cedar Park it’s good news. The move to stage two drought restrictions will eliminate a nine percent water rate surcharge for Cedar Park residential and commercial water customers. Under stage three, the base rate for water was $19.37 for up to 2000 gallons of water usage. Under stage two restrictions the base rate will drop to $17.77.

The decision to move from stage three to stage two restrictions comes after the State approved the Lower Colorado River Authority’s Water Management Plan. The LCRA’s new plan will aim for higher combined lake storage levels for Lake Travis, Cedar Park’s water supply.
