Two Rescued From Burning Boat Near Galveston

Coast Guard officials spot smoke and launch rescue before entire boat is consumed by fire.

GALVESTON, TX -- Members of the U.S. Coast Guard rescued two people from a burning boat near Kemah on Saturday after they received a report of smoke.

The incident happened at about 12:45 p.m.

Coast Guard officials said someone at the station saw smoke and launched a response.

The Coast Guard responded and found a 44-foot sport boat on fire with two people on board.

The two were taken from the boat, which was quickly consumed by the fire.

Galveston fire crews also responded to extinguish the fire.

The incident is under investigation.
