Aeroméxico Airlines Offering New Non-Stop Service Between Austin And Mexico City
The announcement comes two days after Volaris airliner launched non-stop service into Guadalajara, Mexico, from Austin airport.

AUSTIN, TX -- Aeroméxico, Mexico’s biggest airline, announced Tuesday it would launch new nonstop flights between Austin and Mexico later this year.
The new service is scheduled to launch Nov. 17, officials at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport said. The announcement comes two days after ABIA officials staged a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark non-stop service between Austin and Guadalajara, Mexico offered by Volaris airlines.
Austin Mayor Steve Adler lauded the new service. He framed the link between cities through the prism of artistic and cultural exchange.

Welcome, Aeroméxico.”

"From Mexico City, convenient connections to 45 destinations in Mexico are available on Aeroméxico," ABIA officials wrote in an advisory. "Beyond Mexico, Aeroméxico offers service to 15 destinations in Latin America, four in Europe, three in Canada, and two in Asia.
Carlos González Gutiérrez, the consul general of Mexico in Austin, also had good things to say about the new service.
“The new Austin – Mexico City nonstop flight is a step forward to the strengthening of the relationship between two capital cities that will not only bring both of our people closer than ever, but also expand our economic and trade potential,” González said in a prepared statement.

An Aeroméxico official noted the new service brings to 17 the number of U.S. destinations for the airline.
“With the inauguration of this new service, Aeroméxico adds its 17th destination in the United States, consolidating its position as the leading airline in Mexico with the largest presence in North America,” said Anko Van der Werff, Chief Revenue Officer, at Aeroméxico. “The Austin route will allow us to offer more and better connectivity options to/from Texas, with an average weekly offer of 6,500 seats that will increase economical, commercial, educational and cultural trade with the state.”
The new Austin to Mexico City nonstop route by Aeroméxico represents the fourth nonstop destination to Mexico from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, officials told Patch. Other nonstop flights to Mexico from ABIA include the aforementioned Guadalajara service by Volaris that started on Sunday, Aug. 7; service to Cancun by Southwest and United airlines; and a seasonal San Jose Del Cabo route by Southwest Airlines.
Additionally, Austin has six nonstop international flights, with four to Mexico and two others providing service to Frankfurt, Germany by Condor and to London, England by British Airways, officials said.
