From a downtown hospital, the driver drove past Cedar Park toward Bell County where he was finally pulled over.

AUSTIN, TX — A Killeen man was arrested Saturday after allegedly stealing an ambulance outside of University Medical Center Brackenridge in downtown Austin and leading officials on a multi-county chase that ended in Bell County.
The incident occurred Saturday morning when the 43-year-old ambulance joy rider is said to have fled in the emergency vehicle at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to emergency officials.
The vehicle was left unattended as medics transported a patient into the hospital. The man commandeered the vehicle and fled north, reaching Cedar Park when other law enforcement officials gave chase given the sudden change in jurisdiction.
