Police Search for 3 Suspects After Shooting at University of Texas Fraternity House

The shooting was reported early Sunday at the Sigma Chi house.

AUSTIN, TX — Police are searching for three suspects after a shooting at a fraternity house at the University of Texas early Sunday morning.

According to UT police, the first suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a red jersey and khaki pants with a yellow trim. The second suspect is a Hispanic male with light brown hair who was wearing a blue shirt and the third suspect is a Hispanic male with tattooed arms wearing a white shirt and black pants.

KXAN reported the shooting took place around 3 a.m. at the Sigma Chi house on 27th and Nueces Streets. In a statement, Austin police said the altercation took place when an individual who was asked to leave a party returned to the location.

A security guard was shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Police said there is no further threat to the public.

"The safety of our students and community members is always our most important concern. We will provide assistance to Austin Police as they investigate this morning's off-campus shooting. We will also offer counseling and support to students who were at the party or affected by it," the university said in a statement.
