Details as to the motive for the shooting aren't yet clear. But base officials categorized it as a "workplace incident" unrelated to terrorism.
"A tragedy of this type is felt by each and every member, but we will pull together to help our own," Brig. Gen. Trent H. Edwards, the commander of the 37th Training Wing, where both men were assigned, said in a prepared statement.

The shooting was first reported at 8:40 a.m. CST. Police and security officers found the bodies of the two men in an office housed at the Forbes Hall building on base. Two Glock firearms were found at the scene.
This was the second shooting at Joint Base San Antonio since June 2013, when a retired Army sergeant shot his common-law wife, an Army captain, at Fort Sam Houston. The woman survived the shooting.
