Watch Live Stream: University Of Texas At Austin Students Stage Massive Anti-Trump Protest

The 300-plus student walk-out intended to air disapproval of Donald Trump's polarizing agenda, including anti-immigration plans.

AUSTIN, TX — Hundreds of University of Texas at Austin students have staged a walkout from classes in protest of the presidency of Donald Trump, who was sworn in as the nation's 45th president on Friday.

The protests appear to be peaceful yet loud, with students chanting anti-Trump sentiments with drumbeat accompaniment. The phalanx of more than 300 students carried signs to express their dissatisfaction related to many of Trump's polarizing stances on myriad issues that alienated many but fueled his rise to the presidency in resonating to his political base.

The students began their dissent in the shadows of the centerpiece clock tower on campus as they proceeded to the state Capitol building about a mile away.

"To Palestine to the Rio Grand," shouted a march leader. "No more walls on our land!" came the response from marchers. The chant, like the others along the route, was repeated for maximum effect and emphasis. The reference was to Trump's vow to build a literal, bricks-and-mortar wall along the U.S. southern border to inhibit undocumented immigrants from entering the country.

Others were more blunt in their condemnation of Trump: "No KKK, no fascist USA, no Trump!" they repeated in high-decibel mantra while a drumbeat kept rhythm to their protest incantation.

Other students carried signs in Spanish, condemning Trump's views on immigrants. During his campaign, Trump labeled Mexican people as criminals and rapists, called for a ban on Muslims from entering the country and said he wanted a national registry for those already here.

"Undocumented, unafraid!" some students chanted.

The protest was being live streamed by the University of Texas at Austin student-run newspaper, The Daily Texan. It's one of several such protests that have sprouted across a country where a majority of the electorate voted for Trump's political rival, Hillary Clinton, although the Electoral College vote went to Trump. Clinton secured more than 3 million more votes than Trump in the November election.

Other chants were less focused but equally passionate: "No more violence, no more war!" some students chanted. Some of the chants were profanity-laced.

Additional protests are planned locally for later in the day, including one by Austin high school students whose lives have been touched by deportations of family members. Those high school students were scheduled to walk out of their classrooms at 3 p.m. Friday to protest Trump.
