Shelter In Place Lifted As Recycling Plant Fire Controlled
A thick plume of smoke could be seen as far as several miles away.

HOUSTON, TX — A shelter in place order for the area immediately surrounding a four-alarm fire in Houston has been lifted. The fire was at a southwest Houston recycling plant.
The fire broke out around 6:30 a.m. at 13131 Almeda Road, Click2Houston reported. The fire began inside and spread outside, causing structural damage to the plant. Videos show thick, black smoke coming from the building. The smoke plume is visible from miles away.
Hazmat teams continue to monitor the fire, Houston Fire Department said. Chemicals are involved, but fire officials can't say what they are, the Houston Chronicle reported.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, KHOU11 reported, but no injuries have been reported.
