Gunman Arrested After Stand-Off With Police At Wendy’s.

Suspect tried to shoot himself after failed robbery attempt, but ran out of bullets.

HOUSTON, TX -- A man who fired several gunshots and barricaded himself inside of a Wendy’s restaurant Monday night, is in police custody.

Police were called to the 10000 block of Almeda Genoa Road at about 8:30 p.m. for a shooting.

Witnesses said the man came into the restaurant and began shooting.

The employees and customers who were inside the restaurant at the time, ran from the restaurant when the shooting started and called police.

When police arrived, they went inside and tried to speak with the man, but the gunman put the gun to his neck and threatened to shoot himself.

During the stand-of, the man ran from the restaurant to an abandoned bank building next door, shot out the windows and hid

He came out a short time later, pointed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger, but had run out of bullets.

Police released the K-9 on the man and took him into custody.

Two officers were injured during the stand-off.

During the incident, police said one officer accidentally fired a shot gun, grazing another officer when the bullet ricocheted off the ground.

Another officer was bitten by one of the K-9s when the dog was startled by the shotgun blast.

Both officers were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
