HPD Officer Nabbed in Prostitution Sting
13-year police veteran is charged with offering an undercover officer money for sex

HOUSTON, TX -- A Houston Police Officer has been relieved of duty after being caught up in a prostitution sting.
HPD Officer Jermaine Tyree Owens was arrested at a Motel 6 on Sept. 21 after an undercover officer said he offered her money to have sexual intercourse.
Owens, 40, is charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor, after he allegedly agreed to pay for sex, according to court documents filed in the case.

HPD declined to release any other information about the case
Owens, a 13-year veteran of the force, was assigned to the west side patrol, according to police.

He has since been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Owens is set to make his first court appearance on Sept. 29 for the charges of soliciting a prostitute.
