Police acknowledge that daytime burglaries are difficult to prevent. Still, they offer tips on avoiding becoming a victim:

  • Get an alarm for your home. At minimum, place an alarm sign prominently displayed leading up to the front door, even if you don’t have one. Just the possibility of an alarm can help as a deterrent.
  • Cut back hedges and shrubs around your home. This gives burglars less areas to conceal themselves.
  • A dog in the home or the backyard can also help deter a burglar from entering the backyard or the home.
  • Last and perhaps most importantly, get to know your neighbors. A neighbor you know is more inclined to call the police if they see something suspicious on your property.
