Texas Transportation Officials To Discuss Interstate 35 Improvements In Round Rock

ROUND ROCK, TX — AUSTIN – Proposed mobility improvements to 16 miles of I-35 between RM 1431 and US 183 will be the highlight of an open house hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. The meeting will take place at Cedar Ridge High School, located at 2801 Gattis School Road in Round Rock.

This is the second open house for the proposed North 16-mile Comprehensive Project, designed to improve safety and mobility for all users of I-35 while minimizing right-of-way, community and environmental impacts, and to provide a reliable travel time for cars and bus transit using the express lanes. Information available at this meeting includes:

• Design updates to the variable toll express lane entrance and exit ramps
• Direct transit access accommodations at Tech Ridge and Rundberg Lane
• Additional proposed project improvements, including widened bridges, added lanes, and bicycle and pedestrian enhancements along the project’s 16 miles

The approximate $300 million - $400 million North16 project would add an express lane in each direction and address all remaining safety and mobility improvements proposed under the Mobility35 Program that are not included in a series of stand-alone projects between RM 1431 and US 183. Two alternatives are being considered, including a build alternative consisting of express lanes with direct transit accommodation and a no-build, or do nothing, alternative.

Open house participants will be able to review project materials, ask questions, and submit comments. Attendees are invited to come-and-go at their convenience.
