Police Investigate After Two Dead Bodies Found In South Austin Hotel Room [UPDATED]

Police are unsure what may have caused the deaths after responding to a welfare check call on Thursday afternoon.

AUSTIN, TX β€” Police on Thursday afternoon were expected to provide details into the discovery of two bodies found at a South Austin hotel near Interstate 35 and Oltorf Street.

Police responded to a welfare check call shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday at a La Quinta Inn at 1603 E. Oltorf and found two people dead in a room. The causes of their deaths is as yet unknown.

Officer Destiny Winston said hotel management called police after the hotel guests failed to check out as scheduled. But the officer wasn't able to provide any further details, other than to say the deceased were two adults. She cited the ongoing nature of the investigation as the reason for not being able to provide amplified details.
