Police ID Two People Found Dead From Gunshot Wounds At South Austin Home [UPDATED]

Police think Vinton Andrews, 68, fatally shot Patricia Andrews, 61, before killing himself, possibly in response to ongoing medical issues.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the man and woman found dead Saturday morning at a South Austin home, determining the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.

Homicide detectives said they believe Vinton Andrews, 68, shot and killed Patricia Andrews, 61, before he committed suicide. Initially, police had ruled the deaths as suspicious.

The bodies were discovered this past Saturday just before 8 am. in a home along the 77000 block of Whistun Drive. Police were alerted to the deaths after a caretaker called to report finding them, according to police.

While a motive for the deaths has yet to be officially determined, police suspect ongoing medical issues may have been a contributing factor leading up to the deaths, officials said. Still, an investigation into the deaths continues, and anyone with information is urged to call detectives at (512) 477-3588.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — The bodies of a man and woman discovered Saturday morning in South Austin with obvious trauma are being investigated as suspicious deaths, police said.

Police responded t o an emergency call just before 8 a.m. at the 7700 block of Whitsun Drive, according to police. It is there that they found the two bodies. Both individuals were residents of the home, which had no signs of forced entry, police said.

The names of the deceased were not released pending notification of their family members. It's unclear what their relationship was to one another.
