The Slackerville Center In South Austin Sold To Make Room For Storage Facility
Among the shopping strip's tenants is End of an Ear, one of the few vinyl record stores in the city that's been there over ten years.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- It's the end of an era for End of an Ear -- one of the few stores where record collectors can buy vinyl albums in the city -- after the sale of the property in which they're located has sold to make room for a storage facility, according to a published report.
The Slackerville center at 2209 S. First St. -- home to the End of an Ear record store, New Brohemia and Amelia's Retro Vogue & Relics boutiques -- was sold to Austin-based developer World Class Capital Group, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
Company officials didn't respond to the Statesman's request for comment, but public records indicate the company plans to build a storage facility at the site.

Michael Poulson, who's owned the place for many years, blamed ever-rising property rates for his decision to sell the property. According to the appraisal district, taxes on the property are roughly $34,000 with an appraised value that's risen from $960,225 in 2014 to almost $1.5 million this year, the Statesman reported.
Representatives for the center's current tenants said they plan to relocate elsewhere in the city.
