South Austin Pastrami and Pizza Specialists Pieous Looking To Build New Flagship Location

Restaurant officials are reportedly working with real estate firm for a new flagship location.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- The folks behind Pieous, a diner specializing in pastrami and pizza, plans to build a new flagship site in Belterra Village, officials said on social media.

The new location will be located at the intersection of West Highway 290 and Nutty Brown Road. The restaurant is expected to move to the new site, which will allow for more kitchen space and parking slots, by next year. The restaurant is currently located at 12005 W. Hwy. 290, not far from the future locale.

Officials haven't disclosed the exact address for the new location. They are working with Endeavor Real Estate Group in building the new restaurant to be called Pieous Mecca.

Recently, Pieous beat out other contenders in a Croissant Tasting Challenge, officials said on their Facebook page. They gathered at the Cantine Italian Cafe & Barat 1100 S. Lamar Blvd. for the culinary competition on Sept. 24 with some heady competition: Baguette et Chocolat; Texas French Bread; Sweetish Hill Bakery; CafΓ© No Se; Easy Tiger Bakery; La Patisserie; Elizabeth Street; and, the wild card from Trader Joe's frozen food case.

"The winner? The group says Pieous wins," restaurant officials write on their Facebook page. They add, magnanimously: "I say it was CafΓ© No Se. All the entries were set up for a blind test so no one knew the origin to the end. What a neat thing to be in Cantine, swilling killer good coffee and munching on pastries after a long, hard workout."
