The BlackBoard Of West Contra Costa, Neighbor

MISSION STATEMENT

The BlackBoard is an organization of parents, students, and community members who advocate for equity in educational funding, programs and highly qualified teachers. We believe it is important for all students, particularly African American students, to have a quality education that is based on their needs, not on their social economic status.

The BlackBoard believes community advocacy and support programs are vital in securing an appropriate education for African American students in the public schools. We are committed to mentoring students through our JOURNEY TO SUCCESS Program to develop a strong sense of self through Educational Enrichment, Civic/Community Engagement, Leadership Development and Character Building.

Our goal is to enhance the quality of life in our community and the larger society by producing well-rounded and educated students by forming partnerships with local schools, business and community organizations.

The BlackBoard of West Contra Costa is a community organization that works to provide equitable access to resources, mentoring and education for communities, with a specific focus on African Americans. We believe in the power of advocating and mentoring because history demonstrates children's lives have been transformed through effective support systems.
