Arlington Boy Scout Troop 638 Holds Court of Honor for Eagle Scouts

Troop 638 Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Boy Scout Troop 638 held a Court of Honor on 30 November 2014 to recognize eight scouts who recently achieved Eagle Scout rank. Troop 638 meets at the Little Falls Presbyterian Church in Arlington. For his project, John Mundt restored and repaired the Greek Pavilion at Tuckahoe Elementary School; William Edmisten terraced a slope for St. Michael’s Episcopal Church; Kyle McGarry built a garden tool shed at Claremont Elementary School; and Dylan Finnegan built compost bins out of concrete blocks and rebar for Potomac Overlook Regional Park. Alex Hirschberg built raised planting beds for a non-profit at Bluemont Park that will use them to teach about sustainable gardening, while John Voss expanded outdoor chapel seating at Little Falls Presbyterian Church by building and installing ten wooden benches. He also built and installed a large wood cross in front of the chapel. Austin Trimble helped develop the Claremont Elementary School outdoor classroom by installing a pond, and Pierce Jennings rebuilt a 100-foot path at Long Branch Nature Center. He built the path in a dome shape and placed logs to redirect water flow away from the path to minimize flooding and erosion after a rain. Congratulations Eagle Scouts!
