Arlington Boy Scouts Earn Eagle Scout Rank

Court of Honor Held for Four Troop 638 Eagle Scouts on August 22

The highest award from the Boy Scouts of America -- the rank of Eagle Scout – was awarded on Saturday, August 22 to the following Scouts from Troop 638, Little Falls Presbyterian Church, Arlington, Virginia. Only 3 to 4 percent of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious rank.

  • Casey Downs Attallah’s Eagle project included the design and handcrafting of much-needed storage cubicles for the Yorktown High School theater program.
  • David Anthony Blakeslee’s Eagle project involved planning and managing the expansion of the youth group room at Cherrydale United Methodist Church, Arlington, Virginia. David led a team that removed the wall separating two smaller meeting rooms, smoothing drywall, and installing molding. The resulting larger room is a nicer, open concept space for the youth to meet, play and plan community service projects.
  • Benjamin James Gilligan’s Eagle Project was done at Claremont Elementary School. He led a team that installed a 225-gallon rain barrel system for the Claremont Outdoor Classroom. The rain barrel system is connected to the downspouts and provides water for various garden projects.
  • Benjamin Halsey Stoffel’s Eagle project involved the planning, design, and construction of a Storybook Area at Westlawn Elementary School in Falls Church, Virginia. The area was prepared for the installation of a teacher Storybook chair and student seating, all made by hand from natural wood materials.

Congratulations to these new Eagle Scouts!
