Delegate Lopez to Serve as House Minority Whip
Will help lead Democratic Policy, Floor, and Political efforts during the 2016 Session

Delegate Alfonso Lopez (D-Arlington) has been named the new Minority Whip of the Virginia House Democratic Caucus. As the Whip, he will assist the Democratic Leader in organizing floor advocacy and committee policy and messaging strategies during the General Assembly Session.

I look forward to working with Minority Leader Toscano, the Whip Operations Team, and the rest of the Caucus to share our vision of a Commonwealth that prioritizes public education, invests in transit and transportation infrastructure, protects our environment, preserves our social safety net, and grows a new Virginia economy to expand opportunity for all Virginians.”
Delegate Lopez is currently serving his second term representing Virginia’s 49th District in the House of Delegates, which includes parts of South Arlington and Eastern Fairfax County. He is a member of the House Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee; Science & Technology Committee; and Militia, Police, and Public Safety Committee as well as the Virginia Small Business Commission and the Virginia Commission on Intergovernmental Cooperation.
