Rash of Burglaries Reported in Arlington: Police

Police have arrested one person and are looking for several others.

ARLINGTON, VA — Police have made one arrest and are seeking multiple other suspects in a series of unrelated burglaries throughout the county recently.

The one arrest happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 800 block of N. Randolph Street, when officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress. Police say 55-year-old James Edward Burrell kicked in the front door of a vacant residence and gained entry, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department. Officers arrested Burrell and charged him with burglary and drunk in public.

At 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 5, police responded to the 2600 block of Columbia Pike to a motion alarm. Officers determined an unknown individual had forced entry into the business. Police don't know if anything was taken.

The report states: "The suspect is described as a male wearing black pants, black long-sleeved shirt, gray sneakers, and a black knit hat covering his face. The investigation is ongoing."

A burglary was also reported in the 4800 block of Columbia Pike. Police believe it happened sometime between 11 p.m. on Jan. 4 and 11 p.m. Jan. 5. An unknown individual forced entry into a business and stole cash.

Police also listed two other burglaries that may have happened anytime between Jan. 4 and late December, one in the 600 block of S. Wayne Street and the other in the 2200 block of Clarendon Boulevard.
