The Southeastern Conference has named Holly King, a senior defensive midfielder for the No. 10 University of Florida soccer team, the Defensive Player of the Year. The recognition marks the third Gator to win the title since 2009, and the twelfth in the program’s history.

Teammate Erika Tymrak earned the title SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

According to school stats, King started every game and leads Florida’s team, other than goalie, with an average of 86.5 minutes per game. She played every minute of 14 of the team’s matches this year.
