A man was struck by a car Wednesday night on the 400 block of South Carlin Springs Road, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
Spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said the man, who is approximately 30 years old, was attempting to cross the street near Kenmore Middle School at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a passing car. The driver of the car that hit him remained on the scene.
The man who was struck was taken to a nearby hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries, Sternbeck said. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital because he had been cut by shattered glass.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. They do not know yet whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, Sternbeck said.
