Sing for Facets. Six Degree Singer’s, a young professional voice choir, will perform a benefit concert at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax. Proceeds will go toward FACETS, a Fairfax County organization that works to provide services for the poor in Fairfax County. Tickets are $15 at the door. Calling All Train Enthusiasts. The Washington, Virginia & Maryland Garden Railway Society will have a garden gauge (g) scale model train display at the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the museum on 11200 Fairfax Station Road in Fairfax Station. Date Night. The Workhouse Arts Center is launching a new Date Night program. The program is a series of cooking classes. The first event is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the center on 9601 Ox Road in Lorton.
Show Support for Special Olympics Athletes. Special Olympics basketball athletes will take to the courts for basketball contests, a shoot-out and an all-star game, during which organizers will be tossing out prizes, running zany relays and pumping up the crowd in support of Special Olympics. Sing Your Heart Out. Did you sing a cappella in college, or have you always wanted to try? Do you like to sing at karaoke or in the shower? Ever make drum noises when you think no one is looking? “Supreme Chord” is holding a round of auditions for lower voice parts (tenors and basses) as well as for vocal percussionists. Supreme Chord is one of the most dynamic co-ed a cappella groups in the area, made up of young professionals who live and work all over the DMV and love a cappella music.
