Annual 'Stuff the Bus' Food Drive Kicks Off Saturday

Fairfax County will be collecting food for needy families as part of the annual “Stuff the Bus” drive.

Collections will be taken at 13 locations from Jan. 18 to Feb. 17. The program is a collaborative effort by Fairfax County government, local grocery stores, and non profits to fill up local food pantries.

According to county officials, 47,000 Fairfax County Public School students qualify for free and reduce price lunch. Twelve percent of children under 18 years old report food insecurity.

Each week, a bus staffed with MV transportation personnel will park at a different location to collect food donations. All donation hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The bus will be parked in Fairfax, Herndon, Clifton, Lorton, Annandale, Oakton, McLean, Falls Church, Springfield, and Alexandria.
