The incident took place at the corner of Pimmit Drive and Idyl Lane (see map below) Sunday at about 9:25 p.m. Patrol officers noticed suspicious activity in and around a pull-behind travel trailer, parked along the side of the road. During the investigation, a strong odor of burning marijuana was detected, coming from inside the trailer, police said.

Officers asked the occupants to step out and they refused, so the officers made lawful entry into the trailer where they encountered three people, police said. Two of the occupants were cooperative. The third, 24-year-old, Andrew Hoepfl, of Falls Church, allegedly punched and kicked one of the officers several times, according to police.

The other two occupants were released on criminal summonses, charging them with possession of marijuana.
