Burglar Caught Red-Handed in Fredericksburg: Police

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A burglar was caught in the act Friday night after an alarm alerted officers to a possible break-in at Action Window Tinting, 1117 Lafayette Boulevard, according to Fredericksburg Police.

Matthew Cox, 21, of Woodstock, was charged with felony statutory burglary and entering a business to interfere with another person's property.

Around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the alarm call and found the front door the business wide open.

They went inside and found the burglar.

Vandalism/Graffiti:
Downtown Fredericksburg, 2/27, 8:30 a.m. A City resident reported that an unknown person
used spray paint to mark graffiti on his property in the 900 block of Sophia Street. A patrol
officer responded and canvassed downtown and found the same graffiti in the 100 block of
Hanover Street, and Market Square. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Vandalism of Motor Vehicle:
VRE Commuter Parking Lot G, 399 Prince Edward Street, 2/24, 5:30 p.m. A City resident
reported that an unknown person shattered a vehicle window. A patrol officer responded and
found two additional vehicles with shattered windows. No items were missing from any of the
vandalized vehicles. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

200 block Lewis Street, 2/23, 7:30 a.m. A City resident reported that an unknown person
damaged the hood of her vehicle. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Weis Market, 515 Jefferson Davis Highway, 2/24, 9:00 p.m. A citizen reported that she left her
purse in the shopping cart and drove away. When she realized she forgot her purse, she returned
to the store and found it was gone. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Larceny – Theft from Motor Vehicle:
1500 block Princess Anne Street, 2/26, 10:15 a.m. A City resident reported that an unknown
person stole the license plates from her moped. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
