A 31-year-old man has been charged with first degree attempted homicide after City of Fredericksburg police investigated a report of a domestic dispute.
"A 25-year-old female reported that during an argument with her boyfriend in their shared apartment, the boyfriend grabbed a large knife and held her by the hair while threatening to stab her in the face and head," said a city police department release. "The boyfriend also broke the victim’s cell phone."
Police said "two friends of the victim were present during the assault and one of them called police as the boyfriend fled from the scene."
Following the initial investigation, a warrant was obtained for Jose del Cid-Hernandez, charging him with first degree attempted homicide, said police reports.
Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Department arrested del Cid-Hernandez Tuesday morning at his place of employment, and he was turned over to the custody of Fredericksburg detectives, police reports said.
The investigation is ongoing.
