Quarry Getting Extra Police Patrols After Drowning

Overtime details planned after drowning death earlier this week.

Quarry Getting Extra Police Patrols After Drowning
Fredericksburg Police will be patrolling the Fredericksburg Quarry around the clock this weekend to prevent unauthorized swimming, according to NBC Washington.

The move follows the drowning death earlier this week of a Triangle teen. Anthony Mandel Johnson Jr., 18, was reportedly swimming with three friends when he went under the water late Monday. His death was ruled an accidental drowning.

Police noted at the time that "No Trespassing" signs are clearly displayed, along with specific warning for swimmers.

The department will be using overtime details to patrol the quarry, spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe told fredericksburg.com.

The overtime details are included in the departments budget each year to target hot spots for criminal activities or other needs, according to Bledsoe.
