Shooting on Dixon Street

Police responded to Mary Washington Hospital at about 8 p.m. on November 8 for a shooting victim who had arrived by personal vehicle, reported Natatia Bledsoe, Public Information Officer with the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The victim, a 25-year-old Richmond resident, said he was on foot in the area of the 7-Eleven in the 1600 block of Dixon Street when he heard what sounded like firecrackers and felt a sudden pain in his leg. When he realized he was
bleeding, he returned to the car where his friends were waiting for him and decided to go to the hospital, said Bledsoe.

The victim had a single gunshot wound in his right shin.  He was treated in the emergency department and released.

The victim’s friends, two females and a male subject also from
Richmond, could only provide vague information about where the incident occurred. All parties denied seeing anyone with a gun.

Police did not receive any reports of gunfire from the residents in the neighborhood. The investigation is ongoing.
