Tea at the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center

Second Saturday at the Museum features a multicultural tea party in February.

Multicultural Tea, 1 p.m. on Saturday,Feb. 8, in the Mansard Gallery
In conjunction with Second Saturdays at the Museum, children and their parents are invited to join the museum for a multicultural tea party.

Attendees will experience tea ceremonies from around the world including Turkey, Japan, Western Europe and Africa, and will hear a presentation on the history of tea in each of these regions. You will sample different types of teas and refreshments from each region, and make a craft to take home. 

The cost is $10/per person for FAMCC members, $12/per person for non-members.  Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.  You may register online. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  


Colonial Era Tea Trade, 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 on the second floor of the Town Hall building.

Children and their parents may learn about the tea trade in the Colonial era and make tea bags themselves in the exhibit British Heritage, American Style. There is no charge or registration for this drop-in program. 

Second Saturdays at the Museum is a regularly scheduled family program that includes hands-on activities, make-and-take crafts and an opportunity to explore the Museum’s exhibits.  The programs are held from 1 - 3 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month, with varying topics and themes.  Second Saturdays is free, unless otherwise specified.
