Fairfax County Crime Solvers say a reward is being offered for tips leading to an arrest in the graffiti incidents at South Lakes and Herndon high schools last week.

Police estimate that the graffiti caused roughly $1,000 worth of damage at each school.

The graffiti has since been removed.

The first incident occurred at Herndon High School early on Thursday, Aug. 29. Authorities found derogatory words and pictures spray-painted on the field, buildings and equipment.

The second incident was discovered at South Lakes on Saturday, Aug. 31 around 8:08 a.m.  Similar vulgarities, along with the Herndon Hornets mascot, were spray-painted on the new  new artificial turf field and concrete.

Anyone with information about either of these incidents or the suspects involved is asked to contact Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), at  www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org, or by texting “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

A $100 to $1,000 cash reward will be paid for information that leads to an arrest, Crime Solvers said. Tipsters do not have to give their name.
