Fun Facts About Five Guys

The Lorton-based company has 1,500 locations in development around the country - here's a bit more behind the business

Fun Facts About Five Guys

Looking for one of the best burgers in town? Five Guys Burgers and Fries, which is headquartered in Lorton, opened their first location to little fanfare in 1986 -and now, the company, which has more than 1,000 restaurants nationwide, reports that 1,500 locations are in development.

The recipe for their success is not complicated: The chain only sells fresh burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs and fries. Want a salad? You'll have to go somewhere else.

"Find something you love to do and just do it. Make sure your heart's in it," said Five Guys CEO Jerry Murrell in a recent interview with USA Today. "You can't be everything to everybody. You got to be what you are. That's all you can do."

Lorton's Chris Henson said he likes the simplicity, and orders a bacon cheeseburger at Five guys a couple times a month.

"It's a pretty good price, and their food is super good and they have a lot of choices for their burgers," he said. "The only burger that compares is maybe Fuddruckers, but I haven't been there in a while."

Five Guys revenue in 2011 was $976 million, up from $720 million in 2010, according to USA Today.
