Dead Body Found Next To Well On Purcell Road In Manassas: Police

MANASSAS, VA — A dead body was found next to a well on Purcell Road in Manassas on Tuesday, the Prince William County Police Department said. Authorities said there was no evidence of foul play.

A family member of the dead man called police to the scene in the 12300 block of Purcell Road around 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

Original reports indicated that the dead man's body was partially submerged in a well. However, upon further investigation, authorities said the man's body was not in the well, but partially laying in a shallow hole next to the well.

The police department said it is still investigating the circumstances that led to the man's death. Authorities noted that there was no evidence of foul play on Tuesday.

The police department has not publicly identified the dead man.
