Driver Dies After Car Strikes Tree, Becomes Engulfed In Flames After Crash: Police
An unidentified driver died on Wednesday when their vehicle crashed into a tree near Purcell Road and erupted into flames, police said.

MANASSAS, VA — A driver died in single-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning in Manassas, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Authorities said they have been unable to identify the driver so far.
The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the 12500 block of Purcell Road. Authorities said the driver was originally travelling eastbound on Purcell Road in a 2011 Honda Accord.
In their report, the police department claimed that the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver eventually lost control and the vehicle left the roadway, police said.

The vehicle then struck a tree and caught fire. Authorities said the vehicle was fully engulfed in flanes.
Rescue personnel responded and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was the only occupant of the car and police did not believe any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Authorities said they have been unable to identify the driver due to the fire. The driver's remains were taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner where they will work to confirm their identity.
