Locally Involved

When the patch was giving "real time" news with accidents, explosions, etc.... people were engaged and actually blogging with their thoughts and news.  Really exciting to have that "real time" news feed from residents. Nice to have a real online 'local paper'. The local Editor seemed to be on top of things.

Since the cuts at the Patch division, it seems that there is actually no one that really local, more like someone that oversees a few patch sites and dials it in.

Residents really don't seem to be engaged anymore. I find it difficult to believe that your click through rates on articles, etc. have improved with these 'changes'.  People are no longer commenting as they use to, even when divisive, and its not fun anymore nor compelling enough to go through.  Before it was fun to read what people had to say.  But that has gone away.

It appears the pursuit of short term profits is strangling the growth of a remake of the traditional town forum. Corporations seem to be on their own suicide mission.

Sad

PS:  Be great if someone at Patch would pass this up the line.
