A man was robbed of his car at knifepoint in the McLean area Thursday evening, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The man, whom police will not identify, parked his car in the 7500 block of Ambergate Place shortly after 6 p.m.

As he got out of his vehicle, he was approached by a man in his 20s who pulled out a knife, according to police. The robber took several items from the man, including his car keys.

The bandit then drove off in the man's four-door Mazda MX3. No injuries were reported.

Fairfax County police spokesman Bud Walker would not say what other items were taken from the man.

Police are declining to reveal the stolen vehicle's license plate number, he said.

The suspect was said to be about 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weigh 170 pounds.

Ambergate Place is off of Anderson Road between Dolley Madison Boulevard and the Commons Shopping Center.
