Local nonprofit hosted its annual volunteer recognition event on June 19 at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church.

The Kyle Randall Volunteer of the Year Award, given to outstanding New Hope Housing volunteers and civic partners who demonstrate Kyle’s spirit of generosity and commitment, was presented to Katrina Beverly. Beverly supports shelter programs, special events and administrative staff while completing her PhD in non-profit management.

Sidoux Mitchell received the Jim Lund Award, given for exceptional length of service. Mitchell has been an active volunteer with New Hope Housing for over 30 years. Hannah Lau was honored with the Allie McConnell Youth Service Award for organizing the donation of 18 new microwaves and other kitchen supplies for families in New Hope Housing’s programs.

“We are so fortunate to have the commitment and dedication to helping people in our community demonstrated by all of those recognized this evening," Executive Director Pam Michell said in a release. "Our volunteers are sincerely committed to helping others, and we are a stronger community as a result of their support. ”  Michell also acknowledged the thousands of advocates for New Hope Housing not present who also provide support to help homeless men, women and children shape a new future for themselves and for our community.
