Alexandria Shooting Suspect 'Mistakenly Released' In Maryland

A suspect accused in a shooting is wanted after being "mistakenly released" in Prince George's County.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A shooting suspect in Alexandria was "mistakenly released" from jail in Prince George's County, Maryland, according to Alexandria Police.

Brian Wordell Morris Jr., 27, of Alexandria, is the suspect of a Jan. 15 shooting in the 4600 block of Duke Street. ALX Now reported that the suspect shot the boyfriend of his child's mother. Police say a 22-year-old man was shot but is expected to recover.

Alexandria Police arrested Morris Friday with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. That same day, he was released from jail. It was unclear if Morris was being held in Prince George's County to await extradition to Alexandria. Patch has reached out to police for comment.
