Man's Body Found Near Alexandria Waterfront

Alexandria Police are investigating a body found in the Potomac River.

The Alexandria Police and Fire Departments are responding to a report of a body found in the Potomac River Wednesday morning.

WJLA's Victoria Sanchez is reporting that the body was found behind the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria. Police say the person is a white male that has not yet been identified.

Authorities received the call around 9:15 a.m., Fox5DC reported. There is no word on if the death was suspicious, but detectives are on scene investigating.

The evening prior, Metropolitan Police say a body had been found in the Potomac River near Daingerfield Island, ARLNow.com reported. A search team had been out trying to locate a missing person in the area of Four Mile Run . This person has not yet been identified.

Earlier that day, a body had been found in a sewer system at a pumping station in Northwest D.C.
