High-Rise Fire On Thanksgiving Draws Fire Department Response

On Thanksgiving night, firefighters responded to a blaze in a ninth floor apartment.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A high-rise fire was reported in Alexandria late Thanksgiving night, according to the IAFF Local 2141 firefighters union.

The fire happened in the 200 block of N. Pickett Street. Firefighters responded to a ninth floor apartment and worked to quickly put out the fire. Crews also worked to remove smoke from the upper floors of the high-rise. Several residents had to shelter in place due to the response.

The fire marshal's office was on scene to investigate the cause of the fire
