Metro Work Vehicle Derailment Causes Blue Line Delay
Metro said a derailment Tuesday morning did not involve a train but caused delays to the Blue Line.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A derailment of a work truck is causing delays on Metro's Blue Line Tuesday morning.
Metro shared on Twitter that the derailment involved a heavy work vehicle that was disabled outside Reagan National Airport station. The work vehicle, which can run on roads and Metro tracks, was being used to move equipment from Metro's Yellow Line bridge work site and was returning to the yard when it derailed.
The derailment did not involve a train and caused no injuries. Crews were working to restore the vehicle to the Metro tracks.

General Manager Randy Clarke clarified that the derailment was possible because of the vehicle's design, but the incident was not associated with the future Potomac Yard Metro station.
Riders on Metro's Blue Line can expect delays in both directions. Blue Line trains are single tracking between Braddock Road and National Airport and running every 18 minutes.

Yellow Line service has been suspended for eight months due to construction on the Yellow Line bridge and tunnel between Pentagon and L'Enfant Plaza. Supplemental Blue Line service has been running in place of Yellow Line trains. Yellow Line service is expected to resume on May 7.
