VIRGINIA — Before families travel to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends, there are various local events to enjoy around Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

It's not too early to get in the holiday spirit with the opening of the Downtown DC Holiday Market, Holiday Kick Off at Tysons Corner Center, opening of Ice & Lights The Winter Village at Cameron Run, 17th Annual Capitol Hill Christmas Tree Lighting, Alexandria Tree Lighting Ceremony and Town of Occoquan Annual Town Tree Lighting.
